Below are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our music services*:

A. With PrimeCuts you'll receive at least the same edits that radio stations are playing. We do realize we have many DJs and venues using our PrimeCuts who are looking for the cleanest versions of songs possible so in some cases we will clean up a song even further if we deem it necessary. You will never get a song on PrimeCuts that has one of the "seven dirty words", GD or the N word. However, we make no claims that all songs will be appropriate for all audiences, it's up to you to use your discretion.
A. We have created a comparison chart to help you quickly & easily see how we measure up to the other subscription music services. We also have a song-by-song
comparison that shows when a song was released on PrimeCuts vs. some of the other promotional music services.
A. Check the box for whichever services you will subscribe to, put a quantity of 1 (if you want one subscription, if you want more than one adjust accordingly) and put the price on the line. Do this for each series you’ll be subscribing to & carry down to the bottom.
For the billing, make sure to choose monthly or yearly and fill in your credit card information. If paying by check please check yearly and sign at the bottom.
Finally, for page 2 please fill out the top and sign at the bottom. We only need your federal tax ID if you’re subscribing to our DVD service. If you’re just subscribing to our music CDs you can leave it blank or simply put NA.
A. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American
Express, check or money orders. If paying monthly by a credit card we require a 3-months

If you choose to pay via check or money order we require the year paid in full up front. Also, if you pay yearly you will save 10% off your monthly price before shipping.

A. Yes, all PrimeCuts discs are embedded with CD Text. If you have a CD player that supports CD Text information about the song should show up on your display. Also, if you're a digital DJ and your ripping program supports CD Text it should import that data so you don't have to type it.
A . The biggest difference is when the songs are added to each disc. The A, B, C, L & UK series of HitDisc are designed for radio stations who need to get on new music fast—before they’re a hit. As such, we "add" new music to those discs the very week the songs are released by the labels. In most cases this is two to three weeks before the songs appear on any chart...and, in some cases, there are songs that never appear on any chart. Also, HitDisc usually contain the versions of the songs released by the labels meaning the edits may not be suitable for young audiences.
PrimeCuts, on the other hand, focuses on songs that are charting Top 30 or are destined for the Top 30 charts. In most cases, only two or three new songs enter the chart for a particular format each week. As such, we are able to cover adds to the AC/Hot AC, CHR, Urban, Rock, Country, Dance and Christian charts all on one disc.
A. Without having a CD pressing plant in our warehouse it’s nearly impossible to produce weekly CDs without using burned CDs. Rest assured that we use high-quality professional grade CDRs. We have been using CDRs to send out our weekly CDs and our GoldDiscs to radio & DJs for almost 10 years. Since we ship over 500,000 CDs every year we feel pretty confident that you won’t have any trouble with your PrimeCuts CDs.
A. Our music services are for promotional use only, which means you must either be a DJ, radio station (terrestrial or internet) or venue that has an ASCAP/BMI license. Our services are not available to the general public. If you have any questions about whether or not you qualify please contact the rep for your region.
Q. Are there any discounts available for subscriptions to PrimeCuts?
A. If you pay your subscription in full yearly
there is a 10% discount (before shipping). We also have
affiliations with several organizations that entitle you to a
discount off your PrimeCuts subscription. Please check with any
websites you are a member of or associations you belong to for
information. Please note, we cannot combine discounts if you belong
to multiple organizations that give you discounts for our products
and we can't combine the 10% pre-pay discount with any other
discounts.

PrimeCuts+
access. In order to get activated for PrimeCuts+ you need to

Q. How do I find out when a particular song was on PrimeCuts or
any of your other CDs?
A. You can search for songs,
artists or individual CDs with our
SongSearch tool.
One thing to remember when searching is less is more. If you’re
looking for a song and you’re not sure of the exact title just
put in the first word or two. When searching by disc, here are
examples of how you would search for our different series:
-
PrimeCuts:
Check the box for HitDisc. Type the number of the disc you’re
looking for and hit search. For example, HP200625. Discs
released before Jan. 1 2006: type the number of the
disc you’re looking for followed by the letters PC. For example,
641PC.
-
PrimeCuts Monthly:
Check the box for HitDisc. Type the number of the disc you’re
looking for and hit search. For example, HP200625.
- PrimeCuts Smooth Jazz: Check the box for HitDisc. Type the number of the disc you’re looking for followed by the letter S. For example, 015S.
- PrimeCuts Latin: Check the box for HitDisc. Type the number of the disc you’re looking for followed by the letter T. For example, 028T.
Q. How do
I rip your CDs to my hard drive?
A. Our CDs can be ripped just like any other
audio CD. You can use any CD ripper (like
CDex) and any
CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive.
Q.
When I put your CD in my computer to rip it I have to type in all the song
titles and artists...why?
A. We've been putting CD-Text on our discs since June '05
so you don't have type all that data in for every CD. CD-Text
embeds the data on the CD so the song titles & artists
automatically come up when you're ripping your CDs. However, you
need to use a program that can access CD-Text and a CD-ROM that can
read it. iTunes, Windows Media Player and other general music/media
programs don't read CD-Text. Here are a few programs you can use
that will read CD-Text:
- CDex (free):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/
- EAC (free):
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de
- Easy CD Extractor:
http://www.poikosoft.com
Q. Why don't you submit your CDs to CDDB, FreeDB or
other online music databases?
A.
At one time we did. However
subscribers would find the data we submitted right alongside user
entered data. Since there was no way to tell them apart, our
subscribers would
click on the other entries and then contact us saying there were
errors with the data. The solution was for us to not upload data
and start putting CD-Text on our CDs. That way, every user would have accurate
data when putting their CDs in their computer, without needing to
access the internet. See the question directly above this one ("When I put your CD in my computer I have to type in all the song
titles and artists...why?") to find out how to utilize
CD-Text when ripping your CDs.
Q. I'm trying to
rip with Audiograbber using the CD-Text data on the CD but not all
the information is showing up--why is that?
A. There's a bug
with Audiograbber that it only populates the song title information
into the main screen from the CD-Text. Since Audiograbber hasn't
been updated in years and probably will never be updated, you
really have 2 choices: stick with Audiograbber and type in the
artist for every issue or switch to one of the
programs we recommend that handles the CD-Text properly.
